From Photo to Vector to Color Poster
Randomly creating things with no purpose is what I seem to do now and again, and today was no exception. I came up with a promotion poster for a DJ or really any type of night club in just about a half hours time.
It started off with a photo I had rummaged off the internet at some point. Must have figured I could find a use for it somehow.
Well today I decided to put it to use. My first step was to bring the photo into Illustrator. After opening the photo in Illustrator I ran a Live Trace on it to covert to a vector. The result of which is below.
With this being a decent enough start for me, I export the image as an EPS file and pop on over to Photoshop.
After opening the image in photoshop I decided what I do and dont want to keep of the original. I pretty much knock everything out that I don’t need using the Magic Wand tool and a lot of masking here and there to get it right.
From here I had a few lovely splotches from a nice High Res Messy Paint set I picked up over at BittBox. Combine those with a masking of High Res Grunge Textures from over at Bittbox again. Once I have these in place I proceeded to blur them using a guassian blur. From there I added some text for a random DJ name and below is the result of a quick play in Photoshop and Illustratpr.
Hope you enjoyed my quick little project. If you have any questions about how I did anything please feel free to drop a comment here or email me!
